CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Hello Gentleman, I always thought this coin was just corroding but after taking a closer look. I wanted to ask if this could be a planchet error? or can this be cleaned somehow?

It looks like a damaged circulated coin to me. I see corrosion with verdigris on the rev.

It does appear to have been left in the elements or buried at one time and we are seeing environmental damage. This can not be cleaned up without causing more damage.

I thank you both for your keen observations. I was considering this one to be sent to the graders but I did weight this on this morning and it came in at 4.93g, well within specs I take it and I consider both of your opinions to be dead on and I will just let this one go back to the wild.

Thanks again, this is an amazing awesome service Coneca provides
