  • 2016-D 25C WV harpers ferry quarter possible DD?

Hello all, I hope everyone’s doing alright. I just wanted to ask for opinions on this one. Could this be a DD on the barrels? It takes a slight angel to view it best but a 5X can see it quite clearly, particularly the middle barrel which looks to run up the left side of the doorway as well. It also looks like some doubling on the upper part of the building to me, but I’m just not sure when it comes to double dies.

Thank you all in advanced for you time and input. Have a great weekend.

It appears to be part of the actual design. I have linked the US Mint's drawing for this coin. You are able to zoom in significantly on the areas you mention in your post. Please have a look and see if these areas look like your coin.

Thank you Bob, for the reply and it does not surprise me, I guess all modern coins will probably not have any DD errors due to the computerization of the mints.

Anyway, thanks again I do appreciate your time and eyes on this one.

I wouldn't write off doubled dies on modern coinage. There are many examples of doubled dies even after the single squeeze method of hubbing was introduced. Quarters have some of the most numerous examples of doubled dies. Usually, the pick up point (where doubling is more apt to be seen) is the center of the coin. Please have a look at Variety Vista or other sites that list these. You will be surprised at what is out there.
