CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Bicentennial Quarter Indentation

Hello to all! I am a new paying member. I am also new to the world of Numismatics. I would like your opinions on a coin I have. There is an indentation on George Washington's head. I believe it occurred at the mint. Do you think I should submit it for attribution? Thanks!

It's possible it is a struck through of some sort. If that is in fact what it is, it would be identified as such. That would be considered an error and not a variety. Varieties are what get attributed.

Haha, it looks like a brain!

Ya, this might be a strike-through, but this also might be some sort of damage.

It looks like someone might have taken a sander to it.

Nice pics by the way! Could you post a straight-on one?

          Thanks.

Ya, it appears to be a strike through.
