CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1984 D cent RPM?

    Hello-first time posting. I ran across a 1984 D cent with what looks like a nice RPM, with pretty strong doubling to the west. It's not on Dr. Wiles' page, and it's not in my (admittedly 12 year old) copy of Cherrypickers. I know the photo isn't great (limitation of my phone camera) but is this a variety that's been documented, or is it actually something new? And if it is, what would be the next step I should do? Thanks!

    This coin appears to have take a hit. It is not an RPM.

      I really wish I had a way to get better pictures. It looks like there's some slight doubling on the inside loop of the D, but I'm obviously not an expert. I guess I just found one of those weird things that crops up sometimes. Thanks for taking a look.

        There are so many things that will keep you guessing in this hobby. That's why forums like this exist, and can help you learn. I can understand how this particular example would make you think twice, but unfortunately, circulation damage is an issue we have to deal with occasionally.
