Thanks Coindog. That saves us a bunch of potential headaches.
From what I understand, the clad layer on a quarter weighs approximately 1 gram, so something like this could be a missing clad layer. We should wait for an error guru to have a look and give an opinion.Bob Piazza

Glad we avoided any headaches. Not a problem and I learned not to do that again.
According to the article by Mike Diamond in the link, he covers the process that would result in the type of error as this quarter. He also addresses how a coin such as this, where you would expect to see a weight loss of 1gram, isn't actually accurate. The weight loss could vary between approximately 0.01gr. to 0.15gr. He explains how the 1gram weight of the clad layer is made up for in the planchet manufacturing process.
It's an article worth the read.Last edited by Coindog; 01-11-2022, 07:00 PM.

You cant determine how much anything would weigh with either case. The mint tolerance is +/-.23g so .07 is nothing. I suggest messaging Mike Diamond. IMO this is PMDLast edited by Kloccwork419; 01-13-2022, 09:56 AM.
