1993-S KENNEDY PROOF STRUCK THROUGH?
I am looking at a very nicely toned original1993-S Kennedy Half. I saw a couple of anomalies on the shield on the reverse and thought they were PMD (post mint damage) however at closer look they look to me like some sort of struck though. The position of the anomalies on the rim of the shield is curious. There is also an anomaly on the ear on the obverse. The depression has a red residue in it which I can not explain. Thoughts or comments?Last edited by rbroederer; 04-10-2022, 01:13 AM.Tags: None

It is indeed possible that these are struck through tiny fragments. It seems more probably than PMD to me anyway. As far as the red inside the pit on the obverse, I haven't a clue. Have you attempted to remove it with something like a Q-tip and a bit of water?Bob Piazza

Hello Bob, I removed the coin from a proof set in 2018. I heat sealed it in a Saflip and never bothered it until today, I can say I have ruined thousands of coins in my life and have learned to mess less. The red is actually inside the depression. I think I will mark it as a struck through and leave it be. The coin has a nice clear gold toning to it. Thanks for the heads up! Bruce
