  • 1971 D 5c grease struck?

    Good day,
Is the missing design on reverse Monticello building due to a grease strike? Coin has been in circulation 51 years but can't imagine how circulation could have caused both sides to wear away in the same manner. Thanks again.

This is a heavily worn nickel, but E PLURIBUS UNUM is also affected. It might be a grease struck but it could easily be wear on EPU and an over polishing job on the top of Monticello.

Difficult to tell unless the coin is in hand. It's a pretty minor if it is a struck through grease.
