CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

There is too much damage to think this is anything but post mint damage. As you mentioned, the weight is 2.5g. A dime would have been 2.2g, and a 1976 cent would have been 3.1g. Your coin looks to have been ground down all along the edges. that would explains the weight you mentioned. In addition, any subsequent marking are backwards. which normally means it is a vice job. In addition, the bumps and unevenness of the coins surface show that it was not struck at the mint,

I would suggest you do google searches on "Cents struck on Dime planchets" or " Dimes struck on Cent planchets", and take a look at the coins shown. You will understand why this certainly appears to be purposeful damage.
