I was looking through a box of dimes this evening and came across this one. It is a 1980 S Proof Roosevelt dime in a very pleasant sky blue. I saw something curious on the reverse. At first I thought it was a crack in the flip or a fiber inside the flip. Closer inspection yielded a fine piece of what appears to be metal. It is raised up off the coin and disappears in the rim of the coin. I have seen fibers and threads imbedded in the coin but this one is actually above the surface of the coin. Definitely a first for me. Is this a struck through or something else? Thoughts or comments?

This one is nice. The anomaly is the edge of the rim that has broken off on one side. Do not remove this. Don't believe I have seen this before.Bob Piazza
