1980 S ROOSEVELT PROOF DIME WITH A STRANGE STRUCK-THROUGH...I THINK?
I was looking through a box of dimes this evening and came across this one. It is a 1980 S Proof Roosevelt dime in a very pleasant sky blue. I saw something curious on the reverse. At first I thought it was a crack in the flip or a fiber inside the flip. Closer inspection yielded a fine piece of what appears to be metal. It is raised up off the coin and disappears in the rim of the coin. I have seen fibers and threads imbedded in the coin but this one is actually above the surface of the coin. Definitely a first for me. Is this a struck through or something else? Thoughts or comments?Tags: None
