1998 Washington Quarter
Greetings. Multiple anomalies on this Quarter. Very faint devices from SSW to NNW on the obverse. The rest of the letter/number devices, (B E R T Y and the date), all have a heavy ridge towards the collar, same on the reverse, but not as prominent. Misaligned die? Grease? Die deterioration is obvious with numerous die cracks and chips. There appear to be many areas where the face of the obverse die was abraded. The mint mark is missing. Also, there appears to be faint traces of raised devices, not incuse, in the field above where the mint mark should be, facing the correct direction. This area also seems to be abraded. At first, I thought this may be a "garage" coin, or PMD, but I am not sure and would appreciate any observations.Tags: None

There is indeed a struck through grease issue. The rest appears to be circulation damage. There is a die crack, and all of that 'corrosion' leads me to believe something was spilled on the coin and sat for a while, or it could have been sitting in the soil for a while.Bob Piazza
