CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    This one's loss of weight is because of the coin being soaked in a corrosive like acid. The look of the coin is pretty conclusive of damage by corrosive of some sort.

      Yeah, this one has those classic thin like ravines with the rim eaten away in places, almost like a spout where the corrosive or acidic material flowed over the edge. The date gives it away in my opinion. Too mushy. The coin has that almost made of dried up mud look to it.

      So it is damage, nothing more.
