CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Error searching

With all the hours spent by many searching coins, are there lamination errors that are more collectible or desired than others? IMG_2706.jpg

    Drama plays a big part.
You aren't going to get rich off lamination issues.
Collectible wise, it depends on the person.

The example presented looks suspect. It is difficult to assess by photo only, but this coin may have environmental damage. It almost looks like it was in a fire, oil or the ground. The color is off and uneven...

i am not at my desk to offer some photos, but here are three that have that drama people like.

Thank you for the link, it was a good read.
I apologize for the dark original pic, it was in a shadowed area and I zoomed in on it. It came from an old bag with other coins.
attached is the same coin in better LED lighting. It was rinsed off in acetone about 2 years ago.

        I agree.

It's helpful to post images of both sides. The reverse image may add some additional information.

            Thanks for the reverse image.
IMHO, your coin does have the hallmarks of a lamination. Congrats.

As Gary said, the more dramatic the more collectible a lamination is.
