    1969 RPM dime

Have this 1969-D I pulled out of Mint set. Trying to match up RPM. Looks a lot like FS-501 but have had people disagree. Could’ve the die been polished where the upper D would be? Thanks

In my opinion, this is either die deterioration, strike damage or mechanical doubling. You can also see faint traces of it above the 9 and 6.
It looks like when the coin was struck, either the die or planchet slid to the north a little bit, or the die simply bounced. It is mechanical and the process to make the coins isn't perfect.

Variety Vista lists just one RPM for 1969-D and this is not it.
