CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1956 Lincoln/wheat DDO @ liberty

I have searched through the resources I have at hand and can find no previous finds with this DD or what appears to be double strike evident at LIBERTY from Rail, L, B and R. It also appears that the L and I are smaller/not as tall of lettering as the BERTY. You opinions are appreciated.

In my opinion, all lower, shelf or step like. Its probably strike doubling, mechanical damage, machine doubling.... worthless doubling. Most of the DDO's and DDR's will show the doubling as cookie cutter lines and even some notching if the second or more impressions that were done on the die are off axis enough. One last thing, the doubled dies typically show impressions at the same height, since they were squeezed onto the die with the same pressure.

This does not appear to be a hub doubled die. I am thinking it is MD.
