Would this be a lamination error, or struck thru on the obverse? Thank you for your time.

It is difficult to tell what it is. To me, it looks like some glue or part of an adhesive sticker. Have you attempted to clean it off yet? Acetone would remove it if it is an adhesive of some sort.

It does look clear in some places. With this coin already circulated, you can probably place your index finger on the area and question, see if the area sticks to your finger. Bob has the better idea, cleaning it off will probably reveal a normally struck coin...

I am leaning toward post mint damage, or something happened to the coin after it left the mint. Yhe issue around Jefferson's nose appears to be a scratchtowards the left side of the coin in a semi circle fashion.

The questionable area looks raised, so it might be what Bob suggest being stubborn and won't come off the coin.

It looks like the problem started in a circular style pattern near TRUST.
Then whether by pressure or other means, it traveled towards Jefferson and that is where it settled.

If the area was incused or sunk into the coin, it might have been a lamination issue, but the problem here is, it doesn't look natural.

IF some of that area is sunk into the coin, it could have been a failed attempt at creating a "Vise job" coin.
