  • New Pickup - 1976 Kennedy Half Dollar

Picked this one up the other night on the Heritage auction, MS 66 for $80 plus $29 buyer fee.

It will have a home with its brothers . . .

Nice !! Congrats. I have yet to find a clipped planchet I like. Probably end up going with a Bi-centennial since they are a one year release. That way it's just different.

I thought about passing on the auction because we already had a 1976-D with nearly the same clip location. The one we had was graded MS64 with a True View picture from PCGS.

The coin that was being auctioned off was grade MS66 with a True View picture from PCGS. I was thinking that the person getting the coin graded paid PCGS $65 grading fees for an error coin, $5 for the True View Picture, and a minimum price of $22 for return postage from PCGS for a total of $92.

My warped mind was thinking for an extra $17, I could get a two point upgrade by going from an example of MS 64 to MS 66. But now after studying the pictures I think I will keep them both, the new pickup (MS 66) has a lot of die scratches that the MS 64 doesn’t.

Now to find a bicentennial half dollar with some nice die clashes.

Very nice group-o-coins. I have found many, many clips over the years, but very few on higher denomination coins. I like them all though!
