CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2001-D NY quarter with doubling

    Hello,

I am very new to collecting. I wasn’t sure if I am supposed to introduce myself here, or elsewhere. I am not a CONECA member at this time.

I found this coin in a mint roll. On the reverse it has doubling on Liberty’s left hand. My questions:
    • What would be the correct terminology to describe this?
    • I saw a YouTube video that mentions this error, but I can’t find any other information on it. Does anyone know if this listed somewhere?

Variety Vista is a good resource. It appears that you have found a DDR see link. try to match up the die markers listed. Also it helps if you also post full pictures of the obverse and reverse of the coin. By the way nice find.
