CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

Looks like a lamination peel. There is a very thin layer of the metal that has separated and fallen off.

Hummmmm I don't know about this one.
It looks odd, lines are too straight, one is semi circular, the rim looks bent or crushed ?

I took a closer look at pic #1.
Even the 7 in date looks odd.
The nearly straight line appears to cut into the 7.

Could this be an attempt at a garage coin or vise job ?
Most of the lamination I see are more jagged than smooth lines .

      I dunno...Maybe I am being too critical.

This coin has every indication of being a lamination peel. I see no way to think it is anything else. As the saying goes...the most obvious answer is the correct one. Every lamination peel will be different.

More like a Retained Struck Thro than a lamination however Bob has a much better eye than I do.
