2007 D John Quincy Adams Dollar error
Found this a few days ago in a new uncirculated roll from the bank. It's been struck at least twice. And it looks as though you can see some lettering on the obverse rim. What type of error would this be??You do not have permission to view this gallery.

In my opinion, it may just be a partial collar. This does not look like a double strike as none of the devices show any indication of doubling.
It could be a rim issue, possibly introduced when the coin went through the upsetting mill.
is the edge lettering intact ?

This is a question for Gary as well as a possible answer for the thread. I had seen something similar (Not exact) a few years ago, but could directly attribute it to damage from a rolling machine as I was there when it was being rolled. So Gary...in your endeavors, have you ever seen rolling machine damage that presents itself like this? I could be way off base here, so I thought I would throw it out there.Bob Piazza

mustbebob I have seen rolling machine damage, and this very well could be the case, but it is quite extreme. There are indicators on the face of the coin as well which look like hints from a rolling machine, the halo looking streaks.
yeah,, let's just say this past week for me has been a train wreck.
Bob, your answer may be the more logical one.Gary Kozera
