CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Hope that vise job didn't set you back too far.

    We're all still learning.

as mentioned above your post. it is a vise-job. it was years ago but i have a large amount of images i have kept.

it was a rush purchase from ebay and only had a minute or two to make a bid when i saw it and figured it anything was awry, i had a return policy, which i opted for, a rare occasion for me. once i shared it for a second opinion, back then, i was politely set straight right away.

no big deal really, just a good learning experience and i got to tell the seller. not sure if they did it or bought it themselves.

it is VERY obvious a vise job as well. no one with a good amount of experience with errors would have bought this as the images were more than good enough for me to have known better. cest la vie

So, for all the newbies that frequent here continuously, seeking direction by this acquired wisdom from those with a goodly amount of experience, point out a few of the most obvious events defining this as a vice job. I am sure they will retain your input forever in their quests.

hands-down, the most obvious sign is the big smooshed area on the reverse, the big dent from the edge of another large cent at k9, 9 o'clock, on the obverse, the obverse has a smooshed profile.

when compared to legit double-struck/flip-over-double-struck coins, the contrast is quite stark.

it was pretty dumb for me to have bought it but being rushed must have made me go FOMO mode!
