  • 1964-D Washington Quarter - Possible Die Clash?

I believe this coin has some heavy Machine Doubling on the obverse but in the upper right field of the obverse (directly under the TY in LIBERTY) there is an impression that I can't explain. I thought it might be a die clash but in doing research here and through other resources I have not seen anything similar. I also believe there may be doubling on the mint mark. Looking forward to hearing the forum's thoughts!

Greetings, this is called Edge Reed Marks, made from the impact of another quarter most likely while in a Mint Bag or ?
Looks like you have something going on at the date area, Pre Cud maybe.

Does look like some MD on the Revers to include the Mint Mark...No match of an RPM on VV

      I agree with DT.
If you're not familiar, the precud they are referring to is the die crack going along the base of the bust and curving to the rim at both ends.
It's is a well formed one.
Here is a link to cuds-on-coins.

There doesn't appear to be any "pre-cuds" on Washington quarters prior to 1965 so they may want to list this one if you contact them.
