CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1990 D penny DDO DDR

    1990 D penny is there a double died obverse? Reverse? If so how many.? I have one in pretty good shape. Just looking for some info about it.

    In my opinion, from what I can see in the photos, it appears to be damage called, split plating. The coin was struck a bit too hard, and it split the copper plating, exposing the zinc core. There is no additional value for this type of damage.

      I don't see split plating at all. Coin is in good shape. Obverse is doubled in 1990 mint mark and in god we trust. The reverse is doubled in certain areas. With these new pictures would you agree this is a doubled died obverse and reverse coin?

        I put up a couple photos from wexler die to have proof showing. There is no obverse doubling on wexler dye for a reason. Thanks for your time.
