Thanks for your response. I will share another photo of the coin.
Re what i'm seeing on the L:- On my last posting "Off weight Penny", I received an article shared by 'Mint errors'. I refer to
That article 'US and world major mint error and die varieties.' Section "So how is a doubled die different?" Particular quote- "You might even see a slice of the letter or number." So what I'm seeing on the L in liberty is practically the same as the 3rd image in the illustration of L's listed as "Hub Doubling". I have also seen a similar L on a coin that has been authenticated.

I would like to see a close up of EPU. Looks like an elongated dot but cant tell for sure. I dont see any doubling on the obverse
BTW there is nothing you can say or quote that will teach Bob about hub doubling that he doesnt know already.Last edited by Kloccwork419; 03-15-2022, 11:57 AM.

You probably need to study up a little bit more on true doubled dies. Because the L on your coin looks like a drawing, doesn't make this a doubled die. You need to concentrate on it looking like a hub doubled die. The drawings are trying to help you concentrate on the differences between true hub doubled dies and machine doubling. You say the entire motto is doubled, and I still don't see anything that looks like hub doubling. In addition, it is just about impossible to have only one letter doubled (like the L in LIBERTY unless it is what we call a Bar L which shows an additional bar under the L. These are found primarily in the 60's. In a nutshell, I don't think your coin is a DDO/DDR.Bob Piazza
