1987 Proof quarter
Hello my my name is Wade I think I posted the pictures but I'm about to post in my introduction for new members like I should have done it here anyways I have a question about a 1987 proof quarter with a die crack and die chips down the face of Washington does this hurt the value of a proof coin or add value to it

Die cracks and chips are an ultimate part of the striking process, but proof coinage should be better controlled against these errors. Either way, cracks and chips should not detract from the value unless it affects the eye appeal of the coin. Only those who grade coins at the third party grading services can tell you whether or not these anomalies will affect their grade. As far as adding value, the short answer is no on a 1987 proof quarter. Some die cracks and chips on older coins such as Morgan dollars were assigned VAM numbers and some of those had an increase in value.Bob Piazza
