CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Greetings

    Greetings all!
I have been coin hunting for about 6 years. Now I have a coin collection and a lot of questions.
Like most people I started with my wheatbacks that were tucked away by my mother. I mainly look for error varieties from pennies to Morgans.
I ended up at CONECA while researching 1964 D nickels for the elusive RPM 501. My first question is out of the 7 RPMs that are known, who gets to pick the 501 RPM as the "money" coin??
I am having issues with some of these shiny nickels telling what is a RPM or some type of MD. I will be posting some images of them shortly and just wanted to say Hi for now.
    Regards.

Welcome to the forum. Glad yo are here. We will help you the best we can. As far as determining 'Money Coins', a lot of it is strength of anomaly and scarcity at the time it was reported. The folks who made the Cherrypickers Guide determined which coins to list and hence, which varieties have the FS numbers. Not everyone agrees with their selections and others think there are more deserving coins. However, if you are the author, I guess what you say in your book is what counts.
