CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Hello Everyone

    I am new to CONECA as of this week. I look forward to reading many posts here as well as asking some questions of my own. I rediscover coin collecting during the Pandemic. I was introduced to it in the early 70's by my grandfather.

    What initially led me to this site is a question I had about a Morgan Silver Dollar I had graded by NGC and whether it was possible to get the VAM of this coin determined by a third party (e.g. CONECA) as NGC offered a single attribution which I do not believe applies to my coin.

    I would love to know the process by which I might be able to submit the coin to the experts here for possible VAM attribution. Any suggestions or comments you have will be very welcome.

    We do not do VAM's here. You need to get a VAM authentication or designation from the folks that assign them.
