CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Hello everyone

While going through an old stash of wheat pennies I started to see some interesting things. This prompted me to buy a microscope to get a better look but still had no idea what I might be looking at. The next step was to learn what I could about what I was seeing and that lead me to Coneca. I have learned some interesting things and my new favorite word is cud. lol

Welcome ! Microscopes save the eyes. I have been using them for over a decade.

As for interesting things, if you are looking for re-punched mint marks or doubled dies, the websites:

    https://coppercoins.com

    and

    http://varietyvista.com

can both be a big help.

A lot of people have a hard time understanding what machine doubling is, so here is a flyer to help understand....

Thank you both very much for the welcome. The doubling info is interesting as I am looking at one right now that I am not sure on but I think you just helped.

You are welcome, if you have any questions about a coin, feel free to write a post about it. Pick the appropriate Forum whether its Varieties (doubled dies, re-punched mint marks, overdates, over mint marks, misplaced dates, re-punched dates etc) or a Mint error (lamination, off-center, multi-struck, wrong planchet etc). One coin per post. If you can give us your idea/guess of what is in advance, it helps us out. Let us know where on the coin you are focusing on also helps out. We're here to help.
