My experience with collecting coins has been for the most part rude when it comes to asking for help in just simple things to the point of offering money out of the sale of the coin to get someone to use their knowledge and resources to sell the coin apparently my coins aren't what I believe them to be but we will seeTags: None

Have you done any research yourself? If you are going to use the forum to merely post coins for just selling them once you find out what they are is highly frowned upon here. You have to put forth an effort, and we will gladly assist when you are stumped or need verification.Bob Piazza

I suggest in here you keep an open mind and appreciate everyone's input. We're here to help and let's leave it at that.Originally posted by Besteverever View PostHere are the pics
The "dude" knows that there are many seasoned collectors in here that are willing to help and provide an answer.
I personally do not care about any past relationships with your coin experiences, just know meeting people and impressions are a two way street.
How you present yourself goes a long way. Respect is earned. Let's move on.
Ok, we have pic. It's a dime. Now, we need to know:
- What year and if it has a mint mark ?
- I know I and the others will want to know what YOU think this is, and describe what you are seeing so we can try to be on the same channel. I see you said it could be die deterioration, and that is a good start.
In general we're supposed to work like a team, communication about something is a two-way street. =)
I think you took these photos from a phone, and as you look at the photo on your phone, I suggest next time try to edit and crop a lot of the black area out, it may make the photos a little larger and easier to see. I will do one of them....
I also suggest trying to take photos straight up, or at 90 degree angles. It will allow us to turn the photos, try to see what is going on and then, if they are right side up, be able to compare the coin with known examples.

Yes, you are right, this area suffers from some sort of damage. It might have been extra flakes of metal building up within the letters or it could be strike doubling. See that "smear" underneath STATES"? if that goes in a circle around the coin, it could be damage from a coin counter, but it is unlikely.Last edited by MintErrors; 04-01-2022, 06:00 PM.

No worries, I was able to see enough on the one I cropped. Your thought about what it is , in my opinion, is correct. Good job. The photo is added to my post above.Last edited by MintErrors; 04-01-2022, 06:04 PM.

I agree that you need to watch your tone here. I asked simple questions based on your initial post about selling coins.
Who is the 'head dude' that made you come here? Did he tell you he didn't want to give you his opinion? You are correct in one thing though, you are rude, and any unhelpful replies are by virtue of your attitude. I will take it up with him, because I don't believe for a second that he said it like you are saying it.the head dude chose to make me be part of this forum because he didn't want to give me his opinion he just told me to sign up and ask so that's what I did take it up with him and like I said rude and unhelpful is my experience with collecting coins as you have proven thank you
This is my statement where I tell you we WILL help if you put forth the effort. So please, if you can not comply with common courtesy here, then you can leave and find some place else. You have to put forth an effort, and we will gladly assist when you are stumped or need verification.Bob Piazza
