CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • New Member Introduction

Hi, I'm Eddie with Around-the-World Collectibles (aka ATWC). Have been involved with Cherry Pickers / Varieties / NGC's VP+ for almost two years now. After examining 1,000s of coins for a myriad of variations, and relying on Variety Vista a lot, I have come to the conclusion that I have too many questions NOT to be become a CONECA member. I am quite sure that my questions will expose the fact that I am a novice who has a long way to go in this field. I look forward to our conversations very much. Eddie

Welcome aboard. Everyone started at the novice level and through time and experience, evolved into some sort of knowledge range. It takes time and exposure to particular coins and having mentors or simply logically understanding what happened. Along with good references and a logical approach. One can approach anything with confidence.

Forgive me. I have been asked to inform you that I am paying member of CONECA. I don't believe I made that clear before. One should expect that I will submit more than a few coins in for attributions which should add to the cause. I look forward to learning more from the CONECA experts. Eddie - ATWC

The easiest way to start the submission process is to go to the very top left of this page.

Click on the FORUMS TAB and that should show you the CONECA services forum.

Examination is for errors, attribution is for varieties.

You start a post in there, include good focused and cropped photos. Describe what you see and you might want to give them your best guess what the error or variety is. They will look over the post and determine if the error or varieties are as stated and then may ask to see the coin.

CONECA screens coins to keep the submission as free from non standard errors or varieties ( such as post mint damaged coins, worthless doubling or other common issues). This cuts down on the number of submissions needed to be done, and may lower the amount of time required to do each submission.

Please remember that submissions done my many of the examiners and attributers are volunteers and have other responsibilities outside CONECA. CONECA is in the process of revamping the master list, providing detailed photos and info on the varieties.

Some sections of the attribution services may not be fully operational yet. Ask as many question you have in your initial post so they can be addressed up front.mit may take a while for a CONECA attributer or examiner to circle back to to your post.

Hope this info helps, and again, thanks for joining. Please enjoy your stay.
