New CONECA Member Intro
Hi, John here. I have been collecting coins on and off for many years. Have not been very active lately but I am now looking to complete the exploration of the thousands of Lincoln cents I have accumulated. Otherwise knows as those damn pennies per my wife. Just signed up to be a CONECA member and look forward to sharing any information I have and drawing on others for help in identifying those varieties that do not seem to be in the current listings. I noticed some familiar names in the forums and greatly appreciate the time others contribute to make this crazy hobby as fun as it is.Tags: None

Welcome aboard. Hopefully you have a high dollar winner in there and it allows you to sell it off and buy yourself and the significant other something special.
A lot of good folks here willing to help. But with that, eventually, the original poster should provide some info to help us help them. If your looking reference sites for coins, you can go to the main forum page and at the bottom of that page are links to some decent educational web sites.
One key note, when attempting to attribute coins prior to 1990s, the mintmarks were hammered into the working dies and they were done by hand. So each working die was a little different and it helps us identify the variety easier.
For Lincoln cents, I recommend
http://varietyvista.com
and
https://doubleddie.com
as well as https://coppercoins.com .Last edited by MintErrors; 11-28-2022, 11:47 PM.Gary Kozera

Bob & Gary, thanks for the welcome and insights.
Just had a WOW discovery. Did not know about the doubleddie.com website. I thought I exhausted all the sources I could find to match a new 1944-S RPM I found this weekend. The Wexler site has more listings than some of the other sites for this year and mint. Not as many photos of the overall coin and markers but I think I have several more possible mint mark and date pictures to see if I can match this one against. The other complexity is how the RPMs seem to change shape as the die gets worn down over time.
