CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • New Member Introduction

    Hello All,

New CONECA member and as tonight new forum member.

I was super into collecting coins from about 10 to 13. However, lawn mowing money just couldn’t sustain my collection ambitions and my focus turned to other interests (girls and music) around the end.

Now, 23 years later, the bug has bit me again. I’ve always been drawn to things that shouldn’t or weren’t meant to exist. Mistakes in movies, the paranormal (full blown skeptic at this point), and coin errors.

Two things drew me back into the hobby. First, I became a father in 2019, the first year of The Great American Coin Hunt, and wanted to put away some coins from that year for my daughter and my mom gave me some jars of coins I had saved for later analysis during my first infatuation with the hobby.

Between acquiring coins for my, now 2, children and searching through those jars I got drawn all the way back in.

My current interests are: modern (2021+) Morgan and Peace Dollars (probably will move to vintage at some point), American Silver Eagles, I tend to like a lot of Tokelau coins, certain West Point mintages, Franklin Half Dollars, and (still) all things errors.

Looking forward to meeting all of you and learning more from the best and brightest here.

Hi all you fine people and fellow coin-a-holics , My name is Doug and I am a senior citizen ( can`t believe I`m saying that), and have been intrigued with/by coins since I was a wee lad back in the 60`s. I collected as a boy back in the 60`s and never really had a chance of knowing what I was doing as info back then was extremely limited as compared to today. There were no computers , not alot of books on coins and heck , they didn`t even grade coins til the 70`s I believe when ANACS did it for the first time .So , I collected some I still have from back then and am now back on the horse again after " a life" of business, family raising and all the life things that kept me apart from this hobby that I truly love. I have been back on the coin for a little less than 1 1/2 yrs now and have learned so,so much from all the great folks in the coin world. I have found a few really nice errors and varieties , now that I`m aware of them which leads me to this one. I`m aware of the 4 doubled dies that are on the new Maya Angelo Quarters and side-lined this one a few months ago as "it is different". I , and others are leaning towards a poss. class 9 DD on the rev.. I would love to have this coin examined by one of the experts. Thank you all and Have A Great Day.

Dreza, you need to start your own post and should not place your coin on someone else's thread. We have no way of tracking your coin when it is embedded in another thread.
