CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • New to the coin world.

Hi my name is Lee (tttaaazzz). I am really new and fresh with collecting coins. My grandparents did alot of collecting with there kids growing up and I have quite a bit of coins that nave never been touch. So I am trying to learn the steps and have a microscope that my youngest daughter like to play with me while I look for errors just for fun. I am wanting to learn the steps of grading and what to do first if I think it may be an error. So just taking it day by day.

Welcome aboard. One of the best things to know in coin collecting is how to grade.
      ANA offers coin grading resources.

As you look at the coins ensure you are looking for varieties as well. Re-punched mint marks and doubled die obverses and or reverses exist, along with the negative side, worthless doubling.
