Also this is a 3.11g copper penny if that means anything other than when they did the change over to 2.5g zinc planchets that year.

1982D RPM 001
You can see the inside of the "D" looks like an RPM but there is no listing for this exact one. There are no scratches under "LIBERTY" either on mine like that on 001 has plus the "D" looks different Gary I agree now that I've looked closer. Any suggestions folks?

You're absolutely right I totally forgot to pair the pics up. It's going to take me a day or so because I have 4 of those 1982D LD like the one pictured. Now I have to pair them up and shoot pics and make sure I get it right. I will too! Thanks again I need to calm down and think and quit getting excited. I'm triple checking before posting.

It's says D/D North. On the VarietyVista page I can see it. I dont see it on the coin presented.

Hello Shleppodellaa,
How many copies of this possible variety do you have? Please post a question in the Coneca Services:Variety A 1982D_Copper_Coneca_Forum.jpg ttributions part of this forum. I can give you an answer there.
Thanks, EricLast edited by eaxtellcoin; 06-29-2024, 09:27 PM.

Hopefully these pictures are better. I've been playing around with my camera's. EACH PICTURE IS OF A DIFFERENT PENNY... There's 3 RD's and 1 BN. They each weigh 3.05 - 3.11 grams now unfortunately my scale only goes to hundredths so 3.11 is as accurate as I can get. What's so special about 3.11 vs 2.50 pennies other than copper zinc issue? You do not have permission to view this gallery.

I would like to take a moment to teach everyone looking at this thread. Make sure you keep your photo size the same when you post multiple photo's. Then make sure the location of the primary mintmark matches on every coin you view. If you think you see an RPM and you have multiples from different time frames. I.E. not all out of the same roll. Your secondary mintmark maybe just lighting or the inside of the punch. This is what I found when I overlayed these coins.
I believe this is lighting or the inside of the mintmark punch causing the appearence of a secondary mintmark along with this abnormality being on three different dies..

It's a learning process. I cannot tell you how much $$$ I spent in the old days trying to figure die varieties out. Keep in mind that going through change - when you find something, it could be or it might not. This forum is designed so you DONT have to spend the $$$$ like the other folks did in the past. Hopefully you can get an answer from one of the many knowledgeable folks that lurk on the forum. When they have time. - Finding varieties in change is like buying a lottery ticket, but the odds are just a little better! Keep looking. They are out there
BTW.. Yes you have gotten something right. Your photo's now are close enouph to edit and are much clearer.
Keep up the good work!!Last edited by eaxtellcoin; 07-01-2024, 10:38 PM.
