  • 1948S Roosevelt Dime

It looks like it might pay to check CoinnStar machines when you walk by as they spit back all silver and gold and aluminum I do believe. I found this little gem and it's looking like RPM 004 east. Would this qualify for FB? It looks like it should but that's a rather BIG word in this case. Also wasn't sure if this post goes in error or variety forum as I'm trying to post by the rules.

surely you know the diff between an error and variety by now?

rpm/ddo/ etc are varieties (although the mint MAY consider them errors but not the public)

    o/c, broadstruck, etc are errors

it looks as thought it may be FB.

it does look like a match for rpm4 except the position is too far away from the torch? i don't see another match, perhaps you have a new one?

it'd really be sick if you got this gratis and turned out to be a discovery! (but more second opinions are needed)

I'm definitely more confident now that you gave me that excellent layman breakdown. Thank you.
Is this the part were I send it in to CONECA for the $6 fee for verification to see if it is?
Also to those pics are nothing more than a loop with a light and cell phone in a stand and simple editing for those that are having trouble getting quality pictures. They seem equal if not better quality than my microscope. Not to mention cheaper.

RPM's and Double Dies ONLY go in this forum as Lance stated above - I moved your post here.

I'm sorry folks, when I click on the mintmark, and the photo enlarges, I don't see any serifs on the upper or lower serif area. Then when I look EAST - to me that looks like slight MDD.
        Just me oppinion,
        Eric

upon another look, i do see it as more MD than RPM, which is the most likely case. i guess the lighting got me that time. thanks for the backup.

The official definition is :"In order to qualify for FT(full torch)/FB(full bands) the circulation issue Roosevelt dime MUST display COMPLETE and UNINTERRUPTED horizontal and vertical bands upon the torch".
So yes I believe it should.

NGC requires both vertical and horizontal. PCGS just requires the bands to be fully separated as far I know. If I'm wrong please correct.

The bottom is fully separated, the top is hard to tell. Good luck!
