  • 1999D 1C possible DDR

This 1999D Lincoln Memorial has bad zinc plate splitting on the obverse in LIBERTY, IGWT, device. The reverse has a bad case of grease or something going on in STATES along with just the tips being struck leaving little tips on the letters and splitting. There's also what appears to be a doubling maybe even tripling in column 7.

imo, it is a weak strike as lincoln's head is also weak and the plating looks closer to an improperly plate but could also have the split plating effect.

certainly not impossible to have a struck-through rev with a weak strike in other areas.

perhaps a second opinion is in order.

and to address what i presume is the main point of the post, the ddr. i cannot help there because i see so many rev with seemingly doubled columns that are not.i would just comp to known ddr for the era of the coin and if there are some with doubled columns, post to the attribution section but from what i've ascertained, "doubled" columns that turn out to be ddr are few and far between.

    good images and presentation.
