CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1944-D D/S (D/D?, D/D/S?)

    This is what appears to be a 1944-D/D - which doesn't seem to exist so I am notably hesitant. It certainly doesn't appear to be machine doubled but the MM its on top of doesn't look like an S to me either.

    Unfortunately I have not yet gathered all the books I need in order to attempt all my identification on my own (they are ordered). So any help with identifying the coin in this post (and my next) would be appreciated...

    It's certainly a repunched mintmark. Check the CONECA Master Variety listing to see if it's in there. www.conecaonline.org.

        That FS attribution is correct....It is known as RPM-002 though.
