    1957-D 10C CONECA/Var.Vista RPM-002

    Hello!

I am trying to identifying this 1957-D Roosevelt dime I purchased that ANACS labeled as D/D (not that they always are ._.). It looks to me to be very similar to RPM-002 but the E PLU on my coin appears to me to be thicker than the photos on Variety Vista/CONECA. I would like to ask you all, is this RPM-002? I’d appreciate any thoughts or insights, thank you very much!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

    -Ryan

I looked on doubleddie.com and the CLOSEST I could see was Wexler's 1957D 10C WRPM-002 is that what you were referring to?
Because if so the MM is off. Wexler's show's it down and closer to the torch.

In my opinion, it looks like RPM 003.

EPU looks lower, step like and damaged.
It appears to be machine damage, aka worthless doubling.

          Ryan,
Just curious, can to take a photo of those serifs? I agree with Gary it looks like the coin has some MD. The serifs to me look raised. It maybe an RPM. The question is - If an RPM - is it strong enouph to list? would try to take a brighter photo of the serifs. Not so bright that you cannot distiguish, but enouph to show us definition.

              Thanks Ryan,
That is an RPM. Did you look at the marker's for RPM003 like Gary asked? I tried to do an overlay to see if close on position. Your photo is a PNG based photo, they need to be JPG to do anything on an overlay. It resembles RPM003 but since Dr. Wiles's photo's are so dark undernieth, I'm un sure without an overlay.

Apologies for the delay, I finally have some time to convert those pics here! I did take a look at RPM-003, couldn't see the die scratches it says are on the front but I'll take another look at it. It's hard to make out the bottom serif in the reference photos but what I can see looks similar to me. Thank you for your patience!

I am guessing that Eric would need Ryanrich's centered photo in JPG:
It will allow for the devices and background to line up with the mint mark:

                    ryan-rich.jpg

I attempted the overlay and it looks like a match. The photo is a bit closer than normal but it worked out. With a photo like this, being so close up, it will fill up the paint dot net area and case it to go off the screen. One has to bring the photo down, stretch it to a little and reposition. It is doable, just takes a few more minutes.

Gotcha, thank you for helping me learn and for your time as always, Gary! Happy to hear it was a match and proud to have it as part of my collection. Will adjust size accordingly in the future!
