  • 1960-D Strong enough to list?

    1960-D-Un-Known---Lighting-from-the-East.jpgHello Group,
When I first looked at this coin I believed it was 1960-D RPM#70 - mintmark position is almost if not spot on.. This variety is Andrew Gold's coin he let me see. The coins, 9 of them, have different strengths to the north and the vertical bar inside the primary does not look to line up with the North. I'm a little perplexed with this one, strong enouph to list?
    Thanks1960-D-Un-Known.jpg Eric

It does look close to RPM-070 Eric, and if 70 is listed, I don't know why this one wouldn't be listable as well. The horizontal bar inside the MM is key here. I personally don't think it is RPM-070, but do not know if it is listed elsewhere.

        Jason,
I'm a little behind on who is doing the RPM's. I see Mike is still the pre screener. Who is doing the listings?

Moon finder DO NOT reply to someone else's thread with your coins please. Next time I will just delete the post altogether.

What you found is a die chip in the 6. Common for this era of Lincolns to have die chips in devices like this. They can resemble a mintmak but can assure you it is not.

The Lincoln Cent above looks like a Large Date, that should eliminate a "few" from that year = D

DANG, I think I looked at one of these under the scope in the past week or so.
Hummmm If I have a photo of it and have attributed it by myself, I will post the pic and details

Here are a few, maybe the markers (pick up points) can narrow it down for you....

                Thanks for replying Gary..
I looked at the RPM's you suggested and looked at the coin(s) I have:

Coneca RPM#083 - The coin is a split serif - and D/D East. The coin I have above does NOT have split serifs and it has a remnant North. The remnant North is hard to photograph and it is only the upper most curve but it does resemble another mintmark. The coin in the picture has what looks like a D/D/D North and Northeast.

Coneca RPM#91 and Coneca RPM#98. Look at the placement of the primary mintmark on my coin. The placement is farther south than both these RPM's.

Thank you for taking the time to look Gary. I really appreciate the comments.

Hmm I could only upload one photo. I took photo's from different angles and marker's. Mostly markers are die scratches that will fade really quickly in a dies life. Not a good marker. I could only find one good marker in Lincoln's ear.1960-D-Un-Known-Marker-OBV.jpg
