1959 ROOSEVELT DDO-001?
The search continues I ran across a 1959 Roosevelt Brilliant Proof with just a dusting of gold and graded by PCGS as PR67. I see some extra thickness on the date, IGWT and especially the designer's initials. Does anyone else see what I see? No die markers are noted.Tags: None

I have attached a picture of 4 other randomly selected 1959 Roosevelt Dimes from PCGS website with the subject dime in the center. I see a puffiness of the lettering of IGWT, the date and especially the designers initials. Is that an example of Class VI distortion? It looks similar although not as extreme as in the 1956 Franklin you reviewed.Originally posted by jcuve View PostI think I see MD on the top of the date. I am not detecting the any class VI distortion...Attached FilesLast edited by rbroederer; 03-08-2021, 08:22 PM.

You have to also remember that proof coins were purposely struck more than one time (at least twice). They did this to ensure a really strong strike. On many occasions, this led to the appearance of slight extra thickness. It is not a hub doubling variety, but rather a striking issue.Bob Piazza
