CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1949S Roosevelt Dime with possible RPM-001

    I am looking at a 1949S Roosevelt dime...the king of the Roosevelts! I think I see a RPM-001. The position of the mint mark looks right and the pictures look very similar to the ones on Variety Vista. There is a die crack in the hair on the obverse which matches the die marker for stage C. Thoughts or comments?

    This very well could be RPM-001 but I can not see any of the notching you see on the VV photo. Since this is an S/S/S, you need to see multiple separation lines or notches. The die crack does seem like it could be the same. This coin would have to be examined in hand, but if you can't very the RPM, then this is just another 1949S dime.

      I'm partially with Bob on this one. I do not see any sign of a serif(s) in the close up photo. Then what I see to the West looks like rolled metal from a hit.
      I think this is post mint damage. Sorry

        This cannot be RPM-001 as already noted due to not seeing those notches.
