CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1999 D Jefferson Nickel - DDR?

    This is from the change I am going through for a friend. I see an extra door frame on the center door frame left side and below top and below the top of right door frame. Did my best with the pics - sorry if they are not great.

    Hoping to get opinions especially since there are no listings for this year (as far as I can see.) Sorry edited the incorrect subject, not feeling well today

    John Wexler or Brian's varieties would be the best places to try to see if there is a match. I know you like to check references, so that was merely a reminder. I personally am not a big nickel collector, so in this case, I can only offer tidbits of info.

    I don't know how intricately designed these doors are. Maybe looking over a really high example over At PCGS might reveal some hints.also, NGC ngccoin.com offers a variety plus section under references I believe, and may show this year or others with a similar issue.

      Thank you MintErrors. Since it is not my coin, I hoped to get a 2nd opinion before asking owner to pay to send off for further review. Brian Ribar will attribute for $5 according to briansvariety website, seems like a pretty good deal!

        This one is promising. I see enough to not think that is just metal flow. May want to wait and see what Bob thinks, but to me looks listable.

            It certainly looks promising to me as well. This is one that needs to be seen by a nickel attributer.

                I do not know much about Jefferson nickels...but it looks the RDV-009, 1982 - 2003 to me.

                  Oh wow atrox001 RDV'S were not even on my radar when I was looking at this nickel. Thank you for the heads up! I sent the coin to Brian Ribar yesterday and my current pics are not good enough
