CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

I’ve searched Variety Vista, Wexler, Variety Plus and others and find no comparisons for attribution of this coin.the date shows doubling and liberty slight doubling and the bottom half of the B is filled. Your opinions are appreciated.

The date suffers from mechanical doubling... lower and shelf or step-like.
The 9 in the date might have some extra metal within it, but nothing major.

I have seen this particular die many times. Those are indeed die chips in the 9 and the lower B of LIBERTY. Some people do collect these stronger MD examples.

Thank you again for the inputs, even though it is “just” MD, and probably only value is in the eyes of the finder I can verify that it is a 1 in 2500 so far, find. A poor boys “DDD” so to speak, but with these inputs I find it to be a defined example of machine doubling.

Take into account the years too. Some years have no doubled dies what so ever. Some years have several varieties to include rpms and doubled dies. Keeping tabs via roll hunting is as complex and infomative as you would like it to be. Good luck in the hunt.

Hello, I was looking back this morning through the education I have received since Joining Coneca and I again want to thank everyone for their donated time, contributions and knowledge shared just to help a stranger with a keyboard.
              Thank You,
