CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Crickets here too. I got about 8 views on each of my 3 attribution forum posts in 8 weeks which took time to put together. Most attributers seem busy. Unless you want to put out alot of money. It seems like there isn't enough time for people to be interested or enough people interested to keep others interested. Cherrypickers took a couple years to put the newest guide together and is the smallest I've seen, the pages can't even fill the binding. Looks like a wedge is needed for it to lay flat. The book by Ken Potter and Brian Allen "Strike It Rich With Pocket Change" will keep new collectors interested in the hobby. 368 pages and only 20 bucks! They may attribute but again they might be busy also. The Coin World really misses John Wexler and now we can appreciate what we have in his work. Scott Tanner,Daniel Griffin and Brian Ribar are working hard at keeping peoples interest up. I notice here on this forum there are not many members on at the same time. Lots of guests though, that's a plus. I can't blame people for wanting to spend more time with their families and things important to them in such a time as this because life is short and our children grow up so fast.
I try to be part of replying to peoples posts here when I can and with the limited knowledge I have while learning myself and of coarse seeing COOL COINS!
Hope this helps. Keep bringing to light what has been hidden in the dark! Don't get discouraged! Let us know if you hear anything!

So Ray takes nice pictures as well as Jason? I'm gonna have to check them out. Maybe we can upload through CONECA like MADDIECLASHES.COM and CUDS-ON-COINS.COM with approval. I tried posting pics on my first posts and would come out sideways! Still learning and upgraded my microscope camera to 3 MP Swiftcam with a reduction lens. Still working on right lighting. Used for posts of 2023 P Jefferson Doubled Dies with bee hives.

The pics I am most proud of are the High Resolution ones I post on EasyZoom. I've had a goal for many years to be able to present single images of the obverse and reverse of a coin with enough resolution to see all the die markers clearly, and I finally achieved that goal a couple years ago with a combination of high resolution camera, super-resolution lens, focus stacking, and panorama stitching. Here's an example showing a Very Early Die State RPM-015 LWC:

That is such an awesome photo! Zooming in without pixelation. I knew it could be done somehow! Thanks they should hire you!

In this case you need to post a picture on the website so that we can examine it without going to another website.

That is not the correct process. The Attribution and Examination forums are private and can only be viewed by CONECA folks.

Now, I agree that it's a good idea to use the regular Die Variety or other forums to share pics of a coin, get feedback on how strong it is, etc before posting to the Attribution or Examination forum. Best to only post coins there which you and others believe are strong enough to be listed.

I have been accustomed to $5 per coin, anything much more than that can add up quickly for multiple coins. I was never able to get a response from coppercoins.com starting from back in 2006. It was like you would have to bribe them to accept your hard work of searching and discovering to fill their web pages. Now try and click on their attribution section... #STOP Sign. Billy Crawford, John Wexler, Ken Potter, James Wiles and Brian Ribar were reasonable and assets to the hobby for attributions. I was hoping CONECA attribution services would be operating sufficiently with discounted fees for members and/or regular contributers. CONECA lost the help of BJ Neff but I still like the strong traildies on some coins, like this 2022 MAYA ANGELOU 25c. We miss you BJ!

After picking up my jaw off the floor because of the best zoomed in picture I have ever seen... I have a roll of UNC 1954 S Lincoln Cents to go through and look for the details I need to see for this RPM. Since the new microscope camera I started using is a great help seeing doubling, I can appreciate the more minor doubled dies. I never got into the RPM's but now look forward to looking. If I can ask What high resolution camera and super resolution lens? Does EasyZoom have a course on focus stacking and stitching? Thanks Ray for stirring the pot!

We should probably push this discussion over to another thread. I'll pull a couple of posts and start a separate thread and we can discuss these topics. I want to keep this one focused on communication with CONECA and giving feedback to the broader forum members on the Attribution (and Examination) processes once they start working again.

I look forward to that and hopefully someone can step up at CONECA and bring back our expectations of responding in a timely manner and creating more interest in the hobby.

I was using imgur because I had trouble uploading to the forum, my images were too large and I assumed you'd want the highest quality photos possible.

                          Why is this the policy?

the CONECA forum downsized the images to ~200kB from 10MB

if you use the imgur link you can click the "..." button and download the entire album to your computer so you can more easily zoom in on the photos

This is what I was doing, using a program called Microsoft Image Composite Editor to make very large photos (~9000x9000) from several zoomed in photos to aid in examination.

I'm also getting errors when I try to upload photos even when they are within the 4608x4608 size requirements.

Hello TR137 we are both fairly new and it seems like we are to stay on topic about communication with CONECA. I get that we should inquire about picture issues in another post and forum. Ray may give some about his pictures in another post.
                                Keep hammering!
