CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Do you think this definition entitlement is enough to garner weight of conviction?

So, very few proof cents, repurposed to make 1964 SMS cents retain the little quark above the horizontal 4 leg nearest the rim. Every 1964 SMS Cent from Heritage Auctions to PCGS have that little quark.

If I was to actually have that quark on the 4 and a repurposed proof die, where no proof dies were normally re frosted in a need for repurposing outside the 1964 SMS experiments, must the definition fit the strike direction?

Saying, there was a time during the 1964 SMS trials that were reserved for the US Mint doing things to dies that were not usually seen, has to be a distinguishing factor.

I think this is more a die gouge on the master die. This photo is from a working die. Same abnormality and I found it only searching 4 rolls from our area 1964_Bar_Over_L.jpg .
