CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1922 Peace Dollar

    For me, this is one of the finest examples I've ever seen of the 1922. Just thought I would pull it out of my collection to share it here. In my research, I found this example does exist but is rarely seen. Hope you like it. NGC, I found out will grade it for what it is, a 1922 DMPL. That's why I never had it graded for years.

      Is it just me or does it seem suspiciously shiny? It seems void of luster. Like it was polished or slightly plated. It could be the photos...

        Jcuve, it's probably the LED lighting. This was never polished, nor is it plated. It has an extremely strong cartwheel. I have several MS peace dollars but this one blows them all away. After all the years I've had it, I'm finally sending it for grading.

          My suggestion is to find a coin dealer who submits on a client's behalf and double check the surface first. Lightly plated coins are far more common than can be believed and they will fool people. I found a few in my grandfather's collection and he was unaware.

          Anyway, hopefully it's the lights. Good luck.
