CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

i'm pretty sure someone here said that they now do the MM as part of the design, no separate punch, thus no MM since like 1992 or something? MintErrors

They did that's exactly why I was confused by the mintmark looking like a RPM.

Yes, it was in 1990 or 1991 that the Mint added the mint mark to the design (master die/hub) basically eliminating the RPM's and OMM's outright.

From that point on, IF a mint mark looks doubled, since it is part of the design, there are two strong possibilities. Its either a doubled die or, it's worthless doubling. For a doubled die, I would imagine more design elements should show some form of doubling as well.
