Penny error

In my opinion, with those heavy scratches in the nearby vicinity, it could be damage either intentional like in a garage with tools or unintentional like from a roll rolling machine or coin wrapping machine.
It just looks suspicious to me.Last edited by MintErrors; 03-23-2025, 10:10 PM.

thumb_55038.jpgthumb_55039.jpgthis is a picture of the penny. I found this penny and some other ones in a roll of uncirculated 2023 pennies. There are several pennies from the same roll that show the same characteristics but to a different degree.

looks like grease-filled die aka struck-through error but i agree with MintErorr's earlier assessment. from the original images, it looked like it coulda been also PMD.

I’d keep it. No way post mint. I have hundreds like that. it’s hard for me to believe they just can’t say they don’t know. It’s a tilted, strike, uneven with rotation that’s what caused the clouding and blur and light strikes. They’re only guessing

You can see the faint doubling like down the word liberty and I’m sure other parts which bolds the other letters in liberty. that is all doubling. It has a line going straight down. The rotation of the coin was from the north east upward towards Southwest when it struck

Tilted Strike? you can make that assessment based on these photos? Please do elaborate, I have only been involved in Errors and Varieties for a little over 50 years and want to learn how to determine what is on the reverse side of your tilted strike without seeing the reverse of the coin.Originally posted by solsgt54 View PostI’d keep it.
