CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2001 1 C. No plating.

No plating on the coin, but you know so often when you flip a cu plated coin; on the reverse you have copper missing, between the tops ov the details and rim. On normal coins. Well. This coin has copper in that spot. Where normal zinc coins do not. Like, above STATES.

All I'm really seeing is environmental staining on this coin.

i'm not disagreeing with pete but i'm curious how much it weighs. i really only ask in case the images are tricking my eyes and i like being right but i really don't like telling someone isn't something when there is a chance it could be but most of the time we do not get images good enough for me to be 100% all the time.

it doesn't look like a missing plating error but just in case it is one AND has some environmental/acid issues.

never hurts to do secondary confirmation/testing anyway. good practice.

It does look to be the zink coated core. I have two of them that look the same way.

Just found out that my coins have more than likely had the plating removed
