Cherrypickers does not have a reference photo and to be honest i'm not a Large Cent guy.
What I can tell you is this: If you have a copy of Breen, Gobrechts Braided hair coronets - there is a photo there: Breen 1907: " Newcomb 3 1851/1881 Blundered Date - From the photo's it definately not that one. It also states Dangerous forgeries exist. Authentication Recomended. From What I see with that knowledge: the first one of the date with the long bar below the tip of the 1 and then again below the 1 in the field - I would be on the fence. What is going on with the first 1 to me doesn't look like a normal minting process.

I believe this is the one that you're looking for. 1851/INV 18 1C N-3 (Newcomb3).
This one is mine so photos are OK to post. You can see the lines in the last #1 that Eric was talking about that yours is missing. Also the first #1 is highly suspect if you compare to the authenticated one and the #5 has the bottom part of the #8.Last edited by Shleppodella1; 02-16-2025, 04:54 AM.
