Hello Dawolf,
Cherrypickers does not have a reference photo and to be honest i'm not a Large Cent guy.
What I can tell you is this: If you have a copy of Breen, Gobrechts Braided hair coronets - there is a photo there: Breen 1907: " Newcomb 3 1851/1881 Blundered Date - From the photo's it definately not that one. It also states Dangerous forgeries exist. Authentication Recomended. From What I see with that knowledge: the first one of the date with the long bar below the tip of the 1 and then again below the 1 in the field - I would be on the fence. What is going on with the first 1 to me doesn't look like a normal minting process.

I believe this is the one that you're looking for. 1851/INV 18 1C N-3 (Newcomb3).
This one is mine so photos are OK to post. You can see the lines in the last #1 that Eric was talking about that yours is missing. Also the first #1 is highly suspect if you compare to the authenticated one and the #5 has the bottom part of the #8.Last edited by Shleppodella1; 02-16-2025, 03:54 AM.

my cpg (a bit older) only lists a couple 1851 and the N4 doesn't match either.
the dan holmes catalog of the "pillow dies" n44 coin is in rough shape so you can try to find another online, may or may not be easy being so scarce, to put your mind to rest you don't have a $50k +/- coin which is what the FS-302 (006.5) N44 would probably be worth in this condition. it is also different and more severe repunching on the n44.coinfacts.com - conecaonline.info - board.conecaonline.org/forum/numismatic-site-links - briansvarietycoins.com - coppercoins.com - cuds-on-coins.com - doubleddie.com - error-ref.com - franklinlover.yolasite.com - ikegroup.info -lincolncentresource.com - maddieclashes.com - money.org - ngccoin.com/price-guide/world - ngccoin.com/census - ngccoin.com/resources/counterfeit-detection - nnp.wustl.edu - pcgs.com/pop - pcgs.com/coinfacts - pcgs.com/photograde - varietyvista.com - vamworld.com
